…I was takin’ a bath. In the ocean!
Summer is on its way. Which, honestly, I’m sort of dreading. I hate heat and sweating. But something I love about summer? I start up my swimming program again and trips to the beach.
I’ve always been a bit of a water baby. I’m glad I’m back into again. Before I learned of the fat acceptance movement, I was barely ever seen in togs (at least, not without a giant tshirt to cover myself up) — surely I was too fat to be seen SWIMMING?
But, after discovered the movement and adopting a “SCREW IT. I LOVE SWIMMING” attitude, I was back in business, baby. And needing to buy swimwear.
Swimwear can be difficult to buy when you’re fat. CUTE swimwear can be even harder. If you’re one of those with larger breasts, it can be nigh on impossible and damned expensive.
Hopefully, some of these stores can help.
Kmart has floral skirted grandma swimmers up to a 26 — hey, if you can rock it, go ‘head. Target is a little better, with some cute circle patterned black and white one-pieces up to a 24 amongst the usual fare. Autograph have some so-so tankinis and board shorts up to a 26, and David Jones have some super cute (and super $$) plainer, retro-ish one-pieces, up to a 22.
Online, here are just a few I like right now* :
I’ve heard great things about Swimsuits for All. They also have a range for those with D cup breasts and up, as well as some with underwire. My favourite pair are the Longitude Ambrosia (up to a 24, which I think is a US 24):

SARA, sold on their own website, at David Jones and on Ezibuy has a super cute ruffled black one-piece. I know I wanted to shy away from black, but it’s probably good to have one black one-piece in the swimsuit drawer, right?

I’ve never heard of this website before, so I can’t vouch for their validity, but Swimsuits Just For Us have lots of cute pairs and claim they go to a size 32 in swimwear. My favourite piece is this adorable ruffled Blooms Gone Wild swimsuit:

Finally, my ultimate fantasy one-piece that I just YEARN to own, from Monif C, the Espana one-shoulder ruffle:

* Disclaimer: I am into one-pieces. I really love the vintage-y retro-ness of them. Hence, all of the togs I have linked, are one-pieces.

That Monif C Espana one-shoulder ruffle is my dream swim suit!
Seriously! Ever since I saw, I think, Gabi at Young, Fat and Fabulous in it, I was hardcore needing it for summer!
LA Vintage have some cute vintage togs for inbetweenies (their measurements go up to 50 inches for bust, waist and hips). In particular, there’s a polka dot wrap one piece that I’ve been umming and ahhing over.
By Ro Designs on etsy have bikinis and cute monokinis from a US size 18: http://www.etsy.com/shop/ByRoDesigns
Oh cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute that yellow bikini from By Ro Designs. Eeeee!
