Velvet is back in a big way. That and its cheaper cousin, velour. Frankly, I’m happy with either. It gives me major 90s nostalgia. The catwalks are wearing it sophisticated, but if I do, it will be in that slightly grunge-y way of my adolescence.

This is a trend I’ve only recently noticed while looking through all the catwalk photos for autumn/winter. I’m a fan of pairing red and purple together — my bedroom pretty much has this theme and I think it looks good! A deep red and dark purple mix is perfect for the winter months. Here are the best:

Autumn/winter trends: oversized jumpers

I absolutely cannot wait for it to get cold enough (so, like, maybe two days out of winter, here) to wear giant, thick jumpers. I plan to wear them with leggings as PANTS and possibly boots or brogues. There’s something so very cosy and homey about it all. And, let’s be honest, anything that doubles up as sleep wear is a-ok with lazy me.

Coats are a winter staple in practically every other state except mine, sigh. This still hasn’t stopped me from purchasing them, in the hopes it will someday get cold enough for them. Or that I’ll move to a cooler climate. Here are my favourites from the catwalks.

The other week, I got contacted by Alisa at ehandbags, asking if they could send some bags for me to review. I accepted, and now have three bags to add to my bag wardrobe. Yes, I have a bag wardrobe.

The brand of the bags is Jendi, a brand I’ve bought before — they do well-priced, trend-driven pieces. All three bags can be worn with the strap, either on the shoulder or crossbody, or used as clutches.

This one is my favourite of the bags — it’s roomy, with a compartment inside as well as the pockets in front, and the colour works for every season.

Red is always a classic and this is a great size. The colour is a little darker than my camera makes it look.

I’m not generally a white fan, as I’m a very messy individual, but this is also a good size bag and I can’t deny white is a great colour for the summer months, and worn as a clutch, it would be perfect for the warmer weather (which I’m still hoping will go away! Come on winter, you can do it).

Autumn/winter trends: leather skirts and jackets

This is probably a trend that is going to be way too hot to wear in Brisbane, but damned if I don’t want to try it, despite how expensive leather can be. I especially love it in the a-line shape for skirts and the cropped styles for jackets.
